Well, not really, since it costs nearly $30.00 in hardcover, but if you’ve read anything by Amy Sedaris (or her brother David for that matter) you know the price is worth it. (Even if you are forced to make poor-people crafts for a while in order to afford it.) Enjoy an interview with the author, below.
Amy Sedaris, Author of Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People
By Jaya Saxena (Gothamist)
Is there anything Amy Sedaris can’t do? She’s conquered comedy with her stint with the Second City comedy troupe, as Jerri Blank on Strangers With Candy, and the co-author of Wigfield with some guy named Stephen Colbert (we think he did something in D.C. this weekend). She’s shown the world she can entertain a household better than your mother ever could with her book, I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence. And now, she’s taking on the edgy world of arts & crafts with her new book Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People. And no, it’s not just about those bracelets you made with pipe cleaners when you were in preschool. We talked to her about about how she got started in the craft world, and whether or not she plans on giving Martha Stewart a run for her money.
So you’ve already released a cooking/entertaining guide, and now you have a crafts book. Are you going to launch a battle against Martha Stewart? You better believe it—the competition is on! I’m going to kick her boney little ass.

Peroozal Spotlight: Romance and Suspense Writer Kylie Brant
Romance and suspense writer Kylie Brant is the author of Deadly Intent, Deadly Dreams, The Last Warrior and several others. Her most recent, Deadly Intent, came out just this past November.
About Deadly Intent:
No one knows the patterns and nuances of communication like forensic linguist Macy Reid. She is also an expert on kidnapping, having experienced firsthand the stark terror of being abducted when she was a child. So she is the perfect investigator to be called in when a Denver tycoon’s eleven-year-old daughter is abducted—for the second time.
The biggest stumbling block for Macy may be a member of her own team: Kellan Burke, the wisecracking, rule-breaking investigator who relishes getting under Macy’s skin. Their styles couldn’t be more different; the attraction between them more explosive. And when it becomes apparent that Macy can’t solve the case without confronting the demons from her past, Kell is just the man to take her there—and back…
